Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has urged Christians to prioritise biblical teachings over changing cultural attitudes, arguing that religious convictions should be guided by Scripture.

The actress made the statement in an Instagram post addressing homosexuality, Christianity and the role of the Church in defending its beliefs.

Olayode expressed concern that teachings she considers contrary to the Bible were spreading among adults, teenagers and children.

She called on Christian leaders to return to Scripture, teach its principles and avoid compromising their beliefs in response to cultural pressure.

According to the actress, Christians should examine whether they are allowing the Word of God to shape their convictions or changing their interpretation of Scripture to accommodate personal desires.

She stated that identifying as gay or queer was incompatible with the Christian faith as she understands it.

However, Olayode stressed that her position should not be interpreted as a call to hate or harm people because of their sexual orientation.

She said she did not wish evil upon people who identify as gay, homosexual or queer, adding that every person deserves love.

The actress argued that loving someone does not automatically mean agreeing with all their beliefs or lifestyle choices.

She encouraged believers to express their convictions honestly while continuing to treat others with compassion.

Olayode supported her position by citing Genesis 1:27, which describes the creation of humanity as male and female in God’s image.

She also referenced Matthew 19:4-6, pointing to Jesus’ words concerning male and female and marriage.

The actress said Christians who believe God is their Creator should accept His Word as the ultimate authority for their lives.

Her remarks have added to ongoing discussions about religious freedom, sexuality and the interpretation of biblical teachings.

While Olayode maintains that Christians should remain faithful to their convictions, her statement also acknowledges the importance of treating people with love regardless of differences.

She concluded that Christian beliefs should be shaped by Scripture rather than culture, reaffirming her commitment to the biblical principles she considers central to her faith.
